The OECD Korea Policy Centre’s Social Policy Progremme, in collaboration with the OECD and the National Pension Service, hosted the 20th Pension Experts Meeting in the Asia-Pacific Region on May 20-21, 2026, at the President Hotel in Seoul. The event was conducted in a hybrid format, combining in-person and virtual participation.

The meeting focused on expanding pension coverage for non-standard workers and the self-employed, addressing the rise of platform labor driven by digital transformation and the widespread informal employment in Asia. Policy presentations, general discussions, and designated debates were held, during which participants actively engaged in discussion sessions and explored practical alternatives applicable to their national contexts.

A total of 38 participants attended the meeting, including experts from overseas countries such as Austria, Finland, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the OECD. They took part in the conference, contributing to in-depth presentations and vibrant discussions.
