The OECD Korea Policy Centre, Social Policy Programme, in cooperation with the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs (KIHASA), held the 19th Social Experts Meeting on 20 November 2025 (Thursday) in Seoul. The meeting was organised under the theme “In an Era of Transition: The Significance and Use of OECD Social Expenditure (SOCX) Statistics” to discuss policy development in response to changing social policy environments and the use of international comparative statistics.
The meeting was attended by a total of 42 participants, including experts from overseas countries such as Japan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Thailand and Poland, representatives from international organisations including the OECD, as well as experts from the Ministry of Health and Welfare and domestic academia (including Seoul National University). Session 1 focused on discussions of cases and future challenges related to social policy development using AI and administrative big data, while Session 2 featured in-depth discussions and cross-country experience sharing on the production framework of OECD Social Expenditure (SOCX) statistics and their use for policy purposes.
