The 19th Pension Experts Meeting in the Asia-Pacific Region

The Health and Social Policy Programme of the OECD Korea Policy Centre, in collaboration with the OECD, convened the 19th Asia-Pacific Pension Experts Meeting in Seoul from May 14th (Wed) to 15th (Thur), 2025.

The theme of this year’s meeting, "Minimum Income Protection for the Elderly: International Approaches to a  Sustainable Pension System" aimed to facilitate the exchange of key issues and experiences in pension policies among OECD and Asia-Pacific countries in response to the challenges of a globally aging society. The objective was to compare and analyze various pension systems to develop models and application indicators tailored to regional characteristics.

This meeting brought together 30 distinguished pension experts from 10 countries to present the Minimum Income Protection in pension system implemented in both OECD member countries and Asian-Pacific countries and to discuss the  current policies and issues in response to the population aging. Each country delivered a presentation, followed by a comprehensive panel discussion in which the pension systems were analyzed from various perspectives.

Participating countries included Korea, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Pakistan, China, Singapore and Thailand. This meeting provided a valuable platform for sharing insights into each country’s pension policies and operational expertise.
