* SUMMARY

» Introduction

Since its establishment in 2008 under the Memorandum of Understanding (Treaty No. 1903) between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the OECD Korea Policy Centre has served as a strategic hub for global mutual cooperation. It has contributed to shared development by transferring and disseminating OECD members’ international standards, policy experience, and know-how to developing countries.

In particular, the Centre operates specialized programs targeting Asia-Pacific countries in the areas of competition, taxation, public governance, and social policy. These programs provide training for public officials and related experts in developing countries by introducing advanced legal frameworks and institutional practices through workshops, international conferences, and forums.

The primary mission of the OECD Korea Policy Centre is to support the fields of competition, health and social policy, public governance, and taxation, as outlined below:

1

To facilitate the exchange of experience in the Asia-Pacific region and to improve Asian-Pacific government officials' capacity through regular meetings, workshops, seminars, and other events;

2

To be a resource centre to support OECD's work with non-OECD economies in the Asia-Pacific region; and

3

To strenthen the understanding of the Asia-Pacific socieities of OECD's research, analysis, and standard setting

In alignment with the OECD’s mission of “Better Policies for Better Lives,” the Centre aims to enhance the economic and social well-being of people across the globe, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.

Since its inception in 2007, the Centre has pursued this mission by organizing 2,416 international events and training programs for 16,424 participants from 47 countries (as of 2025), translating and publishing the latest OECD research, and strengthening policy networks with local institutions, experts, and international organizations. These efforts have enabled the dissemination of advanced and up-to-date OECD policies to countries throughout the Asia-Pacific.
