The OECD Korea Policy Centre's Social Policy Programme hosted the 9th Family Policy Experts Meeting in the Asia-Pacific Region on November 19, 2025, at the Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Botanic Park. The meeting focused on fertility rates and gender equality, engaging in in-depth discussions on the current fertility trends in the Asia-Pacific region, work-family balance policies, and family policy developments across the region.
In the morning session, participants examined the phenomenon of declining fertility from multiple perspectives, including socio-psychological aspects, and analysed work-family balance policies to explore improvements and practical solutions. In the afternoon session, discussions built on accumulated experiences in Asia-Pacific family policy to explore joint solutions to regional challenges.
A total of 20 participants from 8 countries -Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam-including OECD expert, researchers, and academics from the Asia-Pacific region, attended the meeting and contributed to substantive presentations and active discussions.
